Tech Support: VVDI Prog Device Error, Pls check USB driver

If you meet this :Error: Device error, pls checkusbdriver

â€“ Testedsw: 4.4.4 or 4.6.7 or 4.74

â€“ FTDI driver: 2009-10-22 (the recommended one)

â€“ The updater recognize the prog and itâ€™s able to read serial and version (itâ€™s 2.0, no need to upgrade)

â€“ When unplugged the progtotally :no device detected or something

â€“ Win7 x32 run as admin

â€“ only the red led light

Steps to solve this: (solution form a DK fellow)

â€“ Ftdiunistaller, another driver from the driver folder 2016-02-02driver.exe = not working at all

â€“ Ftdiunistallerlatest FTDI driver = device error checkusbdriver

â€“xpsp3, everthingagain = same results

â€“ win7 x64, everything again = same results

â€“ differentusbports, different cables including poweredusbcable, different machines

TheVVdi prog is working with the owner pc (win7 x32, he using the old 2009 driver)

You have to contact your reseller.

They will send back your programmer to the factory.

For me,obdexpress.co.ukis a good man of his word to trust in.

Items from the site are with relief. They did help me with the issue.

Itâ€™s fixed.

It seems they replaced or reprogrammed this ST32 microcontroller

FYI, some Chinese sellers are lazy in this case

In our case, the first time the reseller sent back the programmer with the following message "everything fineâ€ of course itâ€™s still in non-working condition because they are not sent the programmer to the factory.

How to update Kess v3.099 to Kess v5.028

Kess v2 version 3.099 to 5.028 update tutorial - This topic is for information and educational purpose only.

Kess 5.028 from 16pin.

I reworked the SD card on a genuine Sandisk Ultra.

Here arehigh resolutionpictures from 16pin KESS 5.028

FornowI only changed the SD card.

PCB is good.

I have already changed SD card with a Sandisk.

I will change some transistors PD with A6C.

I will change all China capacitors with Panasonic capacitors.

I think buzzer is useless but I have a spare buzzermuRatahere.

I advise to rework it like all China Kess.

Fornowitworkwell with all protocols tested, like Kess v2 5.017.

I have not tested Virtual Read.

Some people have suddenly had their SD cardcorrupted ,so I would recommendto makea backup of the original SD card before using the Kess.

You can make a backup with the software "ImageUSB"

If at insertion the computeraskto format the SD card, don't format it !!!

Note that, 16pin just updatesChinese Kess v3.099to v5.028 but they are not reworked.

I continue to make my interface more reliable withKsuite2.47 that I modded to start with Kess v2 5.028 (orKess v2 5.017).

Works perfectly and without USB dongle.

The benefits are many checksums and bugs corrected.

5.028 +Ksuite2.34 don't support unlock PCR 2.1 through OBD

But 5.028 +Ksuite2.47 maybe support unlock PCR 2.1 through OBD

(I have not personally tested unlock PCR 2.1 through OBD).

4.036 good china clone is confirmed to be ableto tounlock PCR 2.1

5.017 + Ksuite 2.47should have good luck with PCR 2.1 unlock

How to get VCM2 IDS to communicate with Ford PCM

Tips: PCM reprogramming withVCM2 SP177-c

Step 1 : Select the toolbox tab at the top of the screen

Step 2 : Select "Module Programmingâ€

Step 3 : Select the tick mark or the Enter key

Step 4 : Select "Module Reprogrammingâ€

Step 5 : From thefly outmenu, select the type of module to be reprogrammed

Step 6 : Select the tick mark or the Enter key

Step 7 : The application will compare the current calibration level to the latest one available for that vehicle. A message will appear.

Step 7A : If no later calibration is available, a message will appear indicating this. Select the tick mark or the Enter key to return to the Module Programming menu.

Step 7B : If a later calibration is available, a message will appear asking if you want to reprogram the module with this calibration. If you do not want to reprogram the module, select "Noâ€. You will be returned to the Module Programming menu.

Step 8 : If you want to reprogram the module, select "Yesâ€ in response to the question "Do you want to program the vehicle with this calibration?â€

Step 9 : Make sure that an Internet connection has been established and then select "Confirmâ€

Step 10 : You will be presented with a screen that recommends that you carry out Self Test. If you choose to complete this test, you will receive a list of Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCâ€™s) that have been set on the vehicle. When finished viewing this list, select "Exitâ€.

Step 11 : Follow the on-screen instructions to prepare the vehicle and turn the ignition key off and on.

Select the tick mark or the Enter key after each one.

Step 12 : If necessary, apply the reprogramming label to the PCM

If an emissions recall has been performed or a required emissions-related TSB has been completed, an Authorized Modification label must be placed on the PCM. These labels can be purchased at the parts counter of a Ford or Lincoln/Mercury dealership.

Step 13 : Select the tick mark or the Enter key to return to the Module Programming menu.

Kess V2 unlocking Simos PCR 2.1 - connection, wiring, tips&guides

Possible to OBDunlockSimos PCR 2.1 with Kess V2 clone?

Look here: all information can be found here to help you unlock PCR 2.1 usingKess v2 china clone.

Connection:

ECU connection for the bootmode unlocking procedure only!

Connect the ECU to the bootloader adapter
Power up the bootloader adapter with a stabilized 12v power supply
Connect the cable 14P600KT02 to the 14P600BTLR adapter
Follow the instructions provided below

Wiring diagram:

Solder a wire to the CNF1 pin
Solder the 470 Ohm resistor on the two pads
Solder the 1K resister on the pad

Test:

Tested and confirmed working by me on 4 ecus /cars

only on Chinese clone not reworked unit: ktag 6.070, kess v2 v4.036, ksuite up to 2.15

Tips and guides of tools for use:

pcr 2.1 need to be as you know unlocked before writing .

On this ecu pcr 2.1, ksuite ( kess v2 or ktag) seem to be more stable than fgtech on pcr but work too sometimes: i get error with fgtech on one pcr2.1 but no problem with ksuite .

So if you have both tools , prefer ksuite seem to be more stable &flawlesslyand car run ok .

After you get you ecu unlocked in boot mode , with fgtech just remove boot and left pin connection , and read or write on bench .

On ksuite tools , you canâ€™t read or write with ktag , only unlock . ( alientech need to work on itâ€¦)
with kess itâ€™s ok , BUT , you canâ€™t use the tricore module !

The problem is that the harness is plugged in the tricore module . so you have to build your own bench cable : just get a obd female plug on a scrapyard , and wire +12 gnd and can h/l (kline is not used but you can wire it it will make a universal bench cable ) .

The trick to get communication error free on both fgtech and kess cable is to use a strong external psu .

when the tool id or read or write the ecu , the ecu will perform a kind of reset , and the big cap inside the ecu will go charging , causing a drop in voltage if your psu isnâ€™t strong enough to handle it . THAT WILL CAUSE THE COMM ERROR . Thatâ€™s the only thing you have to take care .

when i made test with many little psu (like one you get with your tools) i have seen 7 volts drop some time , so the ecu is shutting down and no comm .

you can use computer atx psu modded to work on bench (green wire plugged on ground to power on ) i think anything that can provide +12v 2A will be ok . i didnâ€™t need more than 12v just a stable 12V . 14v unstable will not be ok

thatâ€™s why on the car you have no problem , car battery can handle the cap charging current .

There is no immo caused comm error on this ecu , psu is the problem !!

So in conclusion : good psu and obd home made bench cable , remove tricore module on kess = 100% tested bench flashing solution for pcr2.1 .

Add new key for new Porsche - ICP IMMO - MC9S12XEP100 (Mask 1N35H) - Add key (auto mode)

Note:

- Pls prepare OBP+ICP adapter, BCM interface board, BCM module, BAV adapter and blank key

- It is forbidden to cut ACDP power off during the process of adding a key

- Pls store the original and programmed EEPROM/ DFLASH data as prompts.

Note:

- Pls connect ACDP device, OBP+ICP adapter, BCM interface board, BCM module

- Check the crystal oscillator package of BCM module: EXT1 short - circuited for ceramic packaged crystal oscillator, EXT2 short-circuited for metal packaged crystal oscillator

- Save the chip data read by the BCM module according to the software tips

Pin detection status:

When EXT contact is bad, check the EXT1 pin if the crystal oscillator is ceramic packaged or EXT2 pin if itâ€™s metal packaged

Note:

- Keep the ACDP device power on

Disconnect the OBP+ICP adapter and ACDP device firstly. (Keep the OBD+ICP adapter, BCM interface board and BCM module connected)

- Connect the ACDP device to the BAV-KEY adapter and put the key correctly in the BAV-KEY adapter

(the gray number is not optional, that mean this key number is already used or current key is already exit)
