It’s an instruction on how to setup BMW
Requirement:
- Laptop running Windows XP or higher (Mac OS X is capable, only if running a windows VM)
- 2GB RAM
- 3GB Free Hard Drive Space
- WiFi Connection at the location of the car to be coded
- Ethernet port (to connect the ENET Cable)
It is VERY important that you setup/install the software in the following order.
- Extract theESYSRAR file, and begin the ESYS Software Setup (click through, accept all agreements, use
default locations for all software file locations when prompted during setup)
- Use WinRAR to decompress PSDzDATA files to the location: C:\data\psdzdata\
The sub-folders should be moved directly to C:\data\psdzdata\ as indicated in the picture below:
- From the ESYS RAR file, run the ESYS Launcher Setup (Requires MS .NET Framework 4.0)
- This is the Token Generator, as well as the program you should use to run ESYS (do not use the icon that the ESYS installer provides to launch the program, instead use the icon that the launcher provides.
- After installation, the Token Generation process will occur. Please see below and pick the correct file location, and select your own personal 4-8 alphanumeric PIN code.
- ESYS Launcher will set the default memory settings, activate the free token for use with ESYS, as well as validate that all CAFD files are signed by the developer to protect you from malicious CAFDs floating around the internet! The Launcher will also provide descriptive text injection "on-the-fly†to allow you to use the newest PSDzDATA with
ESYS softwarefor FDL coding! - Since people have tried to exploit the generous free tool created by Token Master, he has implemented a 48 hour delay before the software can be used. It also will only function for 1 specific model, chosen by chassis code, so be sure to set it correctly. Please see screenshots below:
AFTER 48 hours after installation, when you open the launcher, you will see this message:
BE SURE TO RUN ESYS from the ESYS LAUNCHER SHORTCUT … DO NOT USE THE SHORTCUT THAT WAS CREATED BY THE ESYS INSTALLER!!!

The first vehicle I hooked up was a 2004 chevy cavalier running tech2win. The car was recognized by the software and I was able to read codes, live data, activate special functions. First good impression.
Then I decided to push a little more and I tried reprogramming a 2006 chevy trailblazer using tis2000. All went well.
Then I went back to the 2004 chevy cavalier and also tried to replace and reprogram the PCM with tis2000. First attempt failed, so did the 2nd attempt, the 3rd and even more
Since then, I played a bit with tech2win software (since I don't have many 2013+ GM car on hand to try GDS2) and I must admit 80% of what I tried worked. This leave me a 20% of fail attempt. If you use the tool to play with your personal car that may be fine but working professionally on client cars, I can't deal with a 80% working tool.
CONCLUSION :
If you want to play around with your personal car--> definitely YES!
If you need it professionally--> NO!

I used this VMWare Workstation 12 on a Mac to successfully flash the PPK on a 2012 335xi e90 today. it shouldn't be too hard to make it work with fusion I don't think. ISTA/P 3.56.1.002 is working awesome! In a uncompressed VM size with ISTA/P is 280GB.
Note: have to run it in bootcamp until we can find a workaround for mac users

Here are some tips and ideas after i used this... Wish this helps.
Diagnostic tools can be used:
K+DCANand ENET cables are supported for everything but MOST ring modules. For those, you will still need an
memory setting:
I would recommend anyone with less than 16gb of total host memory drop the VM memory down to 4gb or less.
connecting in either NAT or Bridge mode:
for use of an ICOM orENET cable, you will need to use bridge mode. For general E9x and other K+DCAN vehicles, your network settings will not affect your ability to connect to the vehicle.
VMWare:
I chose VMWare because I feel like it's the most stable and offers the most features. I may look into building a version with Virtualbox but at least for now, I'm going to stick with VMWare. I do however, want to get a mac to test with so that I can make sure I can get it working in Fusion as well as on PC. I think building an underlying linux host is a good idea, however, the idea behind this VM was simplicity and I feel like building it in this manner would be counter intuitive to that end goal.
Ublock instead of ABP:
I could install ublock origin instead of Ad Block Plus in Chrome to save some resources as well as speed it up a bit.
PDF Printer/CuteWriter:
Might be nice to have a PDF printer, like CutePDF pre-installed for "printing" from the various diagnostic tools.
Datens on the desktop:
I included these raw daten files in rar format for a reason. While they all are already loaded in NCSExpert, INPA, and the like. WinKFP deals best with one model series daten at a time. If you need to use WinKFP to program a module, extract that rar file and use the BMW coding tool to load it into WinKFP. There is a PDF in the help files folder on the desktop that illustrates how to use the coding tool to load the files into WinKFP. If you don't plan on ever using WinKFP or programming some of these chassis codes you can go ahead and delete those or all of the datens.
Note:
All above is the customer solution. Try on your own risk.
Safe solution & easiest way is to avoid all installation problems, you can spend some dollars to buy BMW Rheingold software that has been installed on hard disk:

Here is a manual of how to read F series I-Step from VCM master, using BMW
The I-Level (aka I-Step) is the Integration Level of your car, which represents a package of firmwares for all your modules, and it corresponds to the version of ISTA/P last used to program your vehicle.
To determine your I-Level, go toVCM Module => VCM Master Tab => click Read under I-Steps:
The I-Step (current) is the one you want to match when you select the CAFD from the Detect CAF for SWE options (e.g. F001-08-09-550):
When you lost power in the middle of FDL Coding your CAFD, it became corrupted. What I am having you do is insert the same CAFD in it's default generic state and then coding it based on your specific Vehicle Order (Production Date and Option Codes) so in the end you will have exactly what you started with before the power failure and CAFD corruption.
As I have repeatedly stated, so long as one isn't coding the DME module, you should code with the engine running, and will you never have to worry about loosing vehicle power mid-coding, unless of course you run out of gas.

I'm usingVAG PRO cable(VCP+K) for one year now. What I can tell about it?
- OCF isVERYuseful, the DPF reg. always works, sometimes it lose connection or cannot finish procedure but you can always press cancel, clear DTC and reg. is done. All in all, most of OCF functions works, sometimes not but you will see on your own.
2.mk60ec1 recoding- used 3 times, always worked, worth to buy.
3.Flasher- yup, it's good, pretty fast (always use battery charger)
4.DTC and autoscan- VCDS is 10x better for that.
5.Cableis little bit stiff, be careful with it (I broke my cable once, but they repaired interface for free), also you must plug in special USB key so be careful with it too.
6.Updates- at least one in month, done by special program "Aktywator", easy to use. Filemanagment- new feature also makes things simple with ZDC files.
7.ZDC files- files made by VCP staff, used for repairing for example MMI faults. Never used by me, but my friend enjoyed it.
8. If you are usingVCDSyou will notice that it looksfamiliar,but it's very specific program which you will get used to it.
9. If you haveantivirus program turn it offwhen usingVCP, it may make some trouble. But don't worry it's safe. - My opinion: good thing in good price. It can do some things that VCDS can't, OCF will make your life much easier, it takes time to understand how this software works, it still need some fixes, it sometimes gives you headache but it's definitely worth to buy as second software for VAG after VCDS.
